Glossary of glass containers visual defects
Scope of application
This glossary is proposed as an aid to identify visual defects. It constitutes a general data sheet for glass containers of all types, except those for cosmetics and perfumes. Separately, if values of severity are required for particular features, such values should be agreed between the glassmaker and the packer/filler and/or brand owner using a Cahier des Charges. This document does not concern visual critical defects.
Such defects are described in Cetie DT26.00 - GLOSSARY OF GLASS CONTAINER VISUAL CRITICAL DEFECTS.
The Glossary is split into sections loosely based on the area of a container where the defect is found :
§ 2 Finish defects.
§ 3 Neck and shoulder defects.
§ 4 Body defects.
§ 5 Bottom defects
§ 6 Glass technical/material defects non-specific to a particular area of the container
