Procedure and specifications for establishing conformity with article 6 of the SUP directive

Scope of application

The present data sheet is developed as collective input from Cetie to feed the CEN procedure for elaborating a harmonised standard as required in Article 6 of the EU directive PROCEDURE 2018/0172/COD
COM (2018) 340: PROPOSAL FOR A DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL ON THE REDUCTION OF THE IMPACT OF CERTAIN PLASTIC PRODUCTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT. The data sheet takes the editorial form of a standard and it is proposed that it might serve as a voluntary industry reference during the development of the CEN standard up to publication in the Official Journal of the European Union giving it the status of a harmonised standard. The Cetie data sheet will then be withdrawn from available publications.

In the context of EU Directive 2019/904, this group developed the standard related to closures, that remain attached to containers, which became the harmonised standard EN 17665 published by CEN (European Committee for Standardisation ). It continues to support work on packaging aspects of sustainability standards and regulations like the EU PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation).
